Being the second largest mosque in the world, the mosque of Hassan the second, was perfected to the shape it has today only back in 1993. It is particularly impressive and is this most popular attraction of the city, and in fact its minaret is the tallest in the world, with 200 meters high and the prayer hall can host up to 25 thousand believers. Even though the old city of Casablanca may not have the atmosphere of the ones of Marrakech and Fes, its Medina has a plethora of authentic buildings which you must not miss. Take a walk in the old down, visit its local shops and let yourself in the authenticity of the city. Another attraction of the city is the Square of Mohamed V. There you will find important government buildings of architectural interest, the Palace of Justice, the consulate of France and the Central Bank of Morocco. All the buildings have the neo-Moorish style, which was chosen by the French Resident-General Lyautey, during the modernization of the city. Should you wish to get a test of the “crème de la crème” of the city, you definitely have to visit the Corniche coastal area. There you will find luxurious resorts, restaurants and villas. Swimming pools, marinas with yachts, modern beach clubs and a public sandy beach compose the cosmopolitan character of this region.
